We were thrilled to spot our Brooklyn Dome Pendants lighting up the kitchen of Pip and Sarah’s remarkable barn conversion on Grand Designs—and what a transformation it is. This 150-year-old Bedfordshire grain barn was on the brink of collapse when the couple first took it on, and over the course of the episode, we watch it evolve into a stunning modern-meets-rural sanctuary. The project may have pushed them over budget and to their limits, but the result is a true masterclass in characterful, contemporary design.
Hanging proudly above the kitchen island, three of our Brooklyn pendants were chosen for their timeless shape and subtle industrial charm. With extended flex to allow for extra visual drama, the lights draw the eye upwards to the soaring ceilings while grounding the kitchen zone in the open-plan layout. It’s a perfect example of how a simple design executed well can have serious impact, especially in a space that celebrates both the raw and the refined.

The episode itself is a brilliant watch. Between the planning setbacks, emotional decisions, and last-minute compromises, there’s a real sense of triumph by the end. And while Kevin McCloud might have questioned their chances early on, even he admits: “I am not disappointed.” Neither were we, especially once we saw how beautifully the final lighting scheme came together.
If you haven't seen it yet, we highly recommend catching up to see the full project in motion—and to spot our pendants in their natural habitat.
