James returns to elevate the dramatic set of traitors with our exceptional lighting fixtures. After the success of the first series in 2022, The Traitors is set to return to our screens in January 2024. Named “this year's biggest reality TV hit” by the Rolling Stone magazine, The Traitors sees 20 members of public compete in a murder mystery style game.
Similar to the party game Cluedo, the premise of the TV show is that the contestants must work together to complete challenges and eliminate the ‘traitors’ in order to win a grand prize.
Set in a castle in the Scottish Highlands, the look created for the show speaks to a classic, traditional style, which is perfect for the on-screen twists and turns as the players participate in challenges and eliminations.

Traitors Table Lamps
Following the success of our partnership in the stylish design of Love Island, we’ve collaborated with James Tinsley on his latest project - Traitors. James supplied the Traitors set with various table lamps, including the Knurled Pillar table lamp, the Ornate Tulip, the Ornate Circle, the Ornate Ellipse, and the Ornate Tripod, in brass and pewter finishes. The table lamps not only act as decorative additions to add a touch of warmth to the look, but they are also essential for highlighting specific areas of this magnificent space.
The Traitors table lamps compliment the overall aesthetic of the set perfectly, with each lamp echoing a gothic, classic and refined design style. The assortment of designs provides a diverse yet cohesive aesthetic, allowing different styles to complement various spaces within the castle, whilst enabling the medieval look and feel to shine throughout.
As said, the table lamps harmonise and highlight the defining features of this Scottish castle, like the dark-stained wood walls, flooring and furniture present in the living room and billiard room, and the gorgeous stain-glass windows and grand patterned carpets and curtains in the hallway.

The brass and pewter table lamps pop against the wooden and jewel-toned backdrops, giving a contemporary twist to a traditional setting. This intriguing mix of modern and classic makes for a visually interesting lighting design, creating a cohesive and interesting style throughout the space.
The warm glow of the table lamps blends with ambient lighting to deliver a dramatic and atmospheric scene, setting the mood for the thrilling challenges to come. Chosen to enhance the ambiance of the castle, the gothic and classic designs of the lamps evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue.
James has delivered a classy, uncluttered look for the show, enhancing the traditional architectural details and emphasising classic décor elements through strategically placed lamps.
The soft hues provided by the unique fixtures, demonstrate a carefully calculated blend of contemporary and classic looks, making the set visually interesting and appealing to a modern audience while preserving the traditional ambiance.

Inspirations
As a lighting designer, James would have drawn inspiration from various sources when curating designs for this particular setting. For example, historical castles or classic architecture prevalent in the Scottish Highlands, which often feature intricate designs and grand interiors.
The fusion of modern and classic elements in interior design may also have influenced the decision to choose these lamps. He may have been inspired by contemporary design trends seeking to blend historical aesthetics with modern touches.
The concept of Traitors would have also guided selection, with the Traitors table lamps seen as elements that subtly contribute to the storytelling, aligning with the mysterious and collaborative nature of the show.
