Bathroom Ceiling Lights & Wall Lighting

Are these lights safe and practical to use in a bathroom?

Yes! Our bathroom lights are specifically designed and tested for bathroom use, combining beautiful, handcrafted aesthetics with essential safety features (IP ratings) for practicality and peace of mind. When installed correctly in the appropriate bathroom zone, they meet the necessary standards. Check out our complete guide to IP ratings to make sure you're choosing the correct specification, or read on below.

What IP rating do I need for my bathroom lights?

The required IP rating depends on the specific 'zone' within your bathroom.

  • Zone 0 - Lights inside your bath, shower, or anywhere else classed as submersible will require a minimum rating of IP67.
  • Zone 1 - This zone is directly above your bath or shower up to 2.25m. Lights in these spaces require an IP65 minimum, ensuring protection against water and any other substantial water ingress.
  • Zone 2 - This refers to anywhere from 0.6m to 2.25m around your bath or shower. A minimum IP64 rating is required for these spaces.
  • Zone 3 -  This zone is anywhere outside zones 0 to 2 and has no water jets.

How is the wiring and installation handled for IP-rated bathroom lights?

Due to the critical safety requirements for electrical installations in bathrooms, a qualified and certified electrician must carry out all wiring and installation of our IP-rated bathroom lights. They possess the expertise to ensure fittings are installed correctly according to their specific IP rating, the designated bathroom zone, and all current safety standards.

Do all bathroom lights need to be rated IP44 and above?

Not all bathroom lights need to be IP44-rated and above. While IP44-rated lights are essential for areas directly exposed to water (such as showers or baths), you can safely use indoor lights in dry zones of your bathroom. Simply ensure that lights are installed at a safe distance from water sources like sinks or showers. Fixtures like chandeliers, ceiling lights, and wall sconces, placed away from water zones, can be indoor-rated for a stylish look.

What bathroom lighting styles are available?

Our signature style is rooted in high-quality industrial and vintage aesthetics. Within our bathroom range, you'll discover:

  • Elegant pendant lights, including globe, cage, and shaded designs.
  • Versatile wall sconces that provide perfect task lighting when placed near mirrors.
  • Sleek flush mount fittings that are great for low ceiling bathrooms and offer a general ambient light.

How do you layer lighting to produce a spa-like bathroom ambiance?

Layered lighting is key to a well-lit bathroom. Ceiling lights provide general illumination, while wall sconces near mirrors ensure adequate task lighting.

To achieve a luxurious, spa-like atmosphere, start with overall illumination from ceiling fixtures for a general, welcoming glow. Then, layer in wall sconces beside or above mirrors for shadow-free light. Wall sconces are also great for highlighting architectural details and artwork and creating focal points.

Finally, opt for dimmer switches to gain more control over your space and ensure different levels of ambience. This will allow you to transition from bright and functional to soft and relaxing moods when necessary.

What luxury materials define Industville's range of bathroom lighting?

Our bathroom lighting collection is defined by high-quality, long-lasting materials. You'll find a design that matches your space, from hand-finished brass, copper, and pewter to artisanal glass and customisable flex cables.

Can these bathroom lights be dimmed?

Yes, many of our bathroom light fittings are compatible with dimmer switches. To achieve dimming functionality, ensure you use a suitable dimmable bulb (LED recommended) and have a compatible dimmer switch installed by your electrician. Always check the specific product details for compatibility notes.
