How To Embrace The Velvet Interior Trend

Velvet has been around for many years, but we’re seeing no signs of it going anywhere anytime soon. The plush material brings a touch of retro into our interiors and contrasts perfectly with vintage lights. If you’re thinking of incorporating the antique material into your interiors this year, do so with a trendy twist!

Go Soft

Although back in the 18th century it was all about dark and dramatic velvets, they don’t all have to be. Velvet looks incredible in softer colour palettes and contrasts perfectly with a mixture of other textures such as with metallics and faux fur. Warmer toned metallics contrast beautifully with softer coloured velvets, adding a splash of statement colour. Our copper lights look incredible with colder colours such as greys and blues, emitting warmth, whereas, brass tones add a sense of luxury and elegance!

Mix It Up

Are you looking to add character and depth into your interior? By incorporating different textures, patterns and styles, you’re adding layers and a visual contrast! When it comes to mixing and matching your interiors, there are a number of ways you can approach this.

Textures can be added in a variety of ways and incorporating a mixture adds interest, from throws and cushions to wall art and rugs. Think about the styles that suit your character - do you prefer sleek, modern interiors or cosy, countryside-style interiors? You can always mix them both to create an interior unique to you. Our industrial-style lights have the ability to add depth to any interior and contrast perfectly in any style of interior. Don’t be afraid to mix and match!

Be Dramatic

If you’ve embraced the dark interiors trend, with dark walls and floors, the perfect way to add texture and drama is by incorporating plush velvet. Dark walls have the ability to make a room feel smaller, by adding plush colours you’re opening up the space. Incorporate brass lights alongside dark walls for the ultimate on-trend look!

Mixing textures within dark interiors add a luxurious feel, by contrasting the softness of velvet with rough industrial-chic accessories. Our bulkhead range are the perfect lights to add depth, drama and industrial vibes to a dark interior!

Velvet Isn’t Just For The Home

The soft material brings a sense of luxury to any interior, even in commercial decors. As mentioned, the plush material adds elegance and glamour, and is the ideal accompaniment in pubs, bars, hairdressers and bridal shops, just to name a few!

The aesthetics of commercial interiors help to shape customer experiences and determine whether a customer becomes a regular. For pub interiors, you want to create cosy seating areas with colours which reflect your brand. The Three Crowns incorporated statement mirrors, patterned wallpaper, navy blue velvet upholstery and our brass flat pendant to create a homely atmosphere.
